Hand Laid O Scale Track Part 1

Later I will add descriptions to the photos.
They show my tie laying from start to finish.
I use a piece of 1/8 by 1" Masonite to layout the far end of the ties using the track center-line as a reference

Here ties have been glued in place up against the Masonite strip.  2" T pins hold the strip in place.


Here is the location of a crossover and a RH switch.  Later I will trim the ties.

I insert the ties into a homemade jig for spacing.

Then I apply a piece of 3/4" masking tape to the ties in the jig and then remove them

Then yellow Carpenter's glue is spread out and the ties applied.  Usually add some weights mainly on curves until the glue dries.


Looking down tracks 1, 2, & 3 in Penn Station.  The WMRY track in on the far right and will go in front of the station and the PRR tracks are in the back of the station.  We will view Penn Station from the back

Part 2 will follow with sanding, staining, and weathering the ties in preparation for spiking the rail
